The Museum of the Lowest Place

2026 · c. 30′
for voice, electric guitar, violin, double bass, prepared piano, electronics & fixed audiovisual media

Programme note

Occupations crumble to dust - but so does everything.

‘The Museum of the Lowest Place’ is a site of half-recollections.

Perhaps it is a ritual of remembering or forgetting.

In April 2025, I travelled to Jordan for the first time in over 20 years.

I visited the remnants of Crusaders’ castles & forgotten Roman fortifications.

I got lost in the desert.

I listened to the wind speak - through walls, trees, sand, rusted fence posts - intimately, in invitation and invocation.

The paralysing sound of distant air strikes made me afraid, ashamed & ridiculous.

I visited my Grandmother’s house, for the first time in over 30 years, where I wept and filmed abandoned lemon trees.

I remembered the Sun and observed many goats.

This is a piece about longing, fading, numbness, resilience. It is delicate & violent, and follows a dream & nightmare logic. It is personal, and yet takes place alongside accelerating dehumanisation & genocide.

Appropriately, the title of the piece is a misrememberance of a similarly named museum near the Dead Sea.
